For a while I've been wondering where his ads went — now I know. I've also wondered for a while if/when Ben Brooks would do something like a membership — similar to Shawn Blanc.
Well that time is now. As "controversial" as Ben is in his opinions, I respect them wholly. To be honest, Ben was one of the writers who inspired me to start writing. I've dabbled with blogs here and there, but quickly abandoned them. But it was his site and his freedom to speak his voice which inspired me to be serious about it.
Although we have different styles and opinions about different topics, I respect him as a writer. Now his incredibly unique business model seems a bit risky and offers no guarantees. But who knows, maybe he will set off a trend of ad-free independent writing sites that actually make a dime. I, for one, am excited to see the results of this.
So with that, I will be reading his content 7 days earlier.
