James Somers on writing:

"That’s the promise: you will live more curiously if you write...[m]ore of that world will pop alive. You will see more when you look at it."

I completely agree with this. When I started writing to this site, I noticed myself becoming more observant and curious to my surroundings — even to things that are totally unrelated to this site.

The last time I had this kind of "awakening" was when I studied music theory in college. To me, it was both a gift and a curse. The gift comes from the appreciation and the understanding techniques and approaches towards musical pieces. The curse is when I could no longer listen to certain songs or pieces without becoming upset.

Thankfully, that era of music snobbery has subsided in my life.
