Pop your champagne bottles — Apple has removed the Java plugin from Mac web browsers.

While it took a series of 0-day exploits to force Apple's hand, I am happy with the decision. In my opinion, Java is worse than Flash in terms of necessity vs safety. Personally, I can't recall a site I regularly visit that requires Java — and usually if it does, I steer clear of it.

I guess we'll find out how Apple's move will affect me¹.
